Why do tires deflate in cold weather?

DENVER (KDVR) -- Tires naturally lose air pressure over time, but each year as the weather gets colder, tire pressure lights turn on and drivers everywhere begin to look for the nearest air compressor. For many motorists, this is the first sign that cold temperatures are coming and that they need to winterize their vehicles, according to AAA Regional Director Skyler McKinley. When should you switch to snow tires for the winter season? McKinley said the reason for this annual, widespread decrease in tire air pressure is just fundamental physics.Boyle's law is a gas law which McKinley summarized as the pressure of a gas at a volume is proportionate to temperature. It means that air pressure in a space will drop when it is cold, and increase when it is hot.Air molecules in tires bounce around. In the heat, there is more energy and those molecules bounce faster, resulting in higher air pressure. The opposite is true when the ambient temperature goes down."With a loss of temperature com...Arlo Wynwood unveils 4 pink-colored drinks to help benefit National Breast Cancer Foundation

Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Tennessee Titans defensive end Jeffery Simmons got into a fight following Baltimore’s win Sunday in London. The incident, which took place as players were leaving the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was sparked by Simmons diving at Zay Flowers’ legs as the rookie wide receiver was being tackled by two other Titans defenders following a second-quarter catch. That led to Beckham jogging over to the pile and confronting the two-time All-Pro before Simmons shoved Beckham to the ground, drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.Things were chippy throughout the game, according to Beckham.“There was a lot of talk,” Beckham said after practice Wednesday in Owings Mills. “I seen he was chasing down the play, he’s tired, I watched him look at the play then look at Zay’s legs and try and dive on them.“I just didn’t like that. I’m protective. This is my guy. This is my li...Acton-Boxboro nips Lincoln-Sudbury, wins DCL field hockey title

SUDBURY — Offensive corners seem to be the bread and butter of the Acton-Boxboro field hockey team’s attack, and a section of what it practices is dedicated toward finishing broken plays in those opportunities. That paid off Wednesday afternoon with the Dual County League title in the balance, as A-B scored two goals on busted corners in the third quarter to narrowly beat Lincoln-Sudbury, 2-1.Defenses starred for both units as dangerous chances around the goal were limited, making the eight second-half corners the Revolution (11-2-1) produced all the more impactful. Especially in a win they grinded through for another league title despite dealing with a few injuries.“We had adjustments to make, and we did,” said Acton-Boxboro coach Mae Shoemaker. “That just sealed the DCL for them, so it was important. … Winning while they’re missing (important pieces was huge).”Acton-Boxboro led the shot battle at halftime, but all of its shots came from just inside the circle as the Warriors (6-3-3...Boston rabbi recounts horrors of Hamas terror attack in Israel

SAN DIEGO -- Residents of The La Jolla Terrace Condominium Complex are living in a hotel courtesy of the City of San Diego after a massive sink hole developed up against the property along Gilman Drive.“For an abundance of safety, they wanted us all to leave within three hours, and I freaked," a resident who didn’t want to be shown on TV told FOX 5. He lives in one of the eight units impacted by the sinkhole. He says looking from the front of the building, the entire structure appears to be faltering.“There's cracks on the outside of the building and I've been inside the units and there are several cracks this obvious the building is leaning," he said. San Diego takes top spot in ranking of most expensive places to live in U.S. The sinkhole first opened up in March. City crews determined it was the result of a failing portion of massive storm drain pipe. According to the city, they immediately began working to repair the pipe, which is about 35 feet underground, but righ...Latest news
